Sunshine Daydreaming for Felicity Fabrics 3 Apr Written By Sue Gibbins I'm so excited to have the sample fabrics for this Sunshine Daydreaming collection for Felicity Fabrics in my hands, and to top it off a lovely beam of sunlight happened to hit my desk as I was photographing them! This quilting fabric collection is inspired by relaxing in the sun surrounded by the sights, scents and sounds of nature. A butterfly fluttering by, a birdcall, or a flower’s fragrance can transport us to a different time or place, enchanting us to daydream of happy memories and future plans.Let me introduce you to each of the prints. Love To Grow. I absolutely adore having plants around, especially in pretty ceramic pots, and on hot sunny days my houseplant friends sometimes get an outing to the garden for some fresh air (and maybe a bigger pot). The bees seem to get curious about these new arrivals on the patio. It’s so relaxing to sit out amongst the buzz of the bees. Butterfly Jasmine. The branches were sketched based on a plant in the garden. It has a delightful scent when it flowers and the butterflies seem to like it too. So lovely to watch them flutter around it on a sunny day. To make my butterflies look more 'fluttery' I exaggerate their top wings a little. Hope you like them! Botanical Garden. The inspiration for this continuous wavy plant design came from the botanical gardens in Madeira. There was a particular spot with a seat below a lattice arch with plants growing over it, intertwining and filling every available space. It was so peaceful and dreamy to sit there and enjoy the warmth of the sun. Lemon Blossom. Lemons are quite possibly my favourite fruit. The trees can have fruits and flowers on at the same time, which looks (and smells) gorgeous. Lemons are great in both savoury and sweet dishes. A salad with a squeeze of lemon juice and a delicious citrussy dessert (yum!) is perfect for dining outside on a summer day. Learning to Fly. Living in the countryside is especially wonderful in Spring. There's something new happening each day, like when the fledgling birds are out and about. There was one lovely blue sky morning last year when the youngsters (mostly goldfinches I think) were darting around everywhere! That's the inspiration for this print. In Bloom and Sunny Daze. Two cheerful little coordinating prints from the Sunshine Daydreaming collection for Felicity Fabrics, Spring 2023. The 7 prints by Sue at Rocket & Indigo are joined by an additional 5 mixer prints from Felicity’s own range: perfect for quilting. Visit Felicity Fabrics for Wholesale and Quilt Patterns Sue Gibbins
